Tax & Accountancy Solutions

HMRC compliance without the overhead

Tiraverse has built a purpose-built tax compliance platform that handles the full pipeline — MTD ITSA quarterly reporting, CT600 corporation tax, and VAT returns — from data upload through to HMRC submission. No bloated accounting suite. No manual bridging.

Integrated with 17 HMRC APIs across more than 60 endpoints, and hosted entirely in the UK. Built by engineers with decades of enterprise software experience.

The compliance landscape

What is changing, and why it matters

HMRC’s Making Tax Digital programme is rolling out in phases. From April 2026, sole traders and landlords earning over £50,000 must submit quarterly digital returns to HMRC. The income threshold drops to £30,000 in 2027 and £20,000 in 2028, bringing the majority of self-employed individuals and landlords into scope within two years.

For limited companies, the change is equally abrupt. HMRC shut down its free Company Accounts and Tax Online (CATO) portal on 31 March 2026. Every limited company now needs commercial software to file its annual CT600. The filing itself has not changed — same form, same iXBRL format — but the free submission channel has gone.

Businesses are left with two poor options: full-suite accounting packages that charge for payroll, inventory, and multi-currency modules that most SMEs will never use, or basic bridging tools that satisfy the compliance requirement but leave all the actual work to you. Neither solves the underlying problem.

April 2026

MTD ITSA mandatory for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000. CATO portal already closed — all limited companies need commercial CT600 software.

April 2027

MTD ITSA threshold drops to £30,000, bringing a significantly larger population of sole traders and landlords into the mandatory quarterly reporting regime.

April 2028

Threshold drops further to £20,000, making quarterly digital reporting a near-universal requirement for self-employed individuals and landlords.

Platform capabilities

The full compliance pipeline. One platform.

From document upload through processing and bookkeeping to HMRC submission — every step in the tax compliance workflow is handled within the platform.

  • 15 of 16 additional income sources

  • VAT obligation history and confirmations
  • Integrated with bookkeeping — no duplicate entry

Bookkeeping Module

Upload a photo of a receipt, forward an invoice by email, or drop a bank statement into the platform. The bookkeeping module extracts every line item, applies the correct HMRC category, and maintains your books — continuously, from raw source documents.

  • OCR extraction from photos, PDFs, and scanned documents
  • CSV and Excel import with auto-column detection
  • Double-entry bookkeeping maintained automatically
  • Running income and expense totals by HMRC category

Multi-Client Practice Management

A dedicated layer for accountancy practices managing multiple clients. One dashboard shows all obligations, deadlines, and submission statuses. Sole traders, landlords, and limited companies — all managed from the same login.

  • Consolidated client obligation and deadline view
  • Auto-Pilot email collection: clients reply with attachments, we handle the rest
  • File ITSA, CT600, and VAT returns on behalf of clients
  • Automated deadline reminders and client communications

UK Hosting & Data Sovereignty

All data is stored on UK servers. Your financial information does not pass through US-owned cloud infrastructure or overseas data centres. HMRC connectivity uses OAuth 2.0 — we never hold your HMRC credentials.

  • UK-hosted infrastructure — data never leaves the country
  • AES-256-GCM encryption for sensitive identifiers and tokens
  • OAuth 2.0 HMRC authorisation — no stored passwords
  • UK GDPR compliant with full data export and deletion

Who it is for

Built for the people who actually file

Different users have different compliance requirements. The platform is designed to handle each of them without forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

Sole Traders

Self-employed individuals earning over £50,000

If your qualifying income exceeds £50,000 in 2025–26, you must file quarterly under MTD ITSA from April 2026. Upload your invoices and bank statements — from your phone, by email, or via the platform — and we handle bookkeeping, quarterly reporting, VAT, and the annual final declaration.

You can review and approve every step yourself, or let the platform run on its own. Either way, submissions go directly to HMRC and you receive a full audit trail for every return.

Landlords

Rental income from UK and foreign property

Rental income counts toward the MTD ITSA threshold alongside any self-employment income. Whether you have a single buy-to-let property or a portfolio, the platform handles UK property and foreign property income sources separately, each reported quarterly under their own HMRC business type.

If you also have self-employment income, both streams are managed in the same platform — not in two separate tools with two separate submission workflows.

SMEs & Limited Companies

Annual CT600 filing now requires commercial software

CATO closed on 31 March 2026. Every limited company — including micro-entities and dormant companies that previously self-filed for free — now needs commercial CT600 software. The filing itself has not changed, but the free submission channel has gone.

Directors with qualifying self-employment or rental income above £50,000 outside their company also need MTD ITSA. Director salary and dividends do not count toward that threshold — only separate sole-trade or property income does. One platform handles both.

Accountancy Practices

Managing multiple clients across sole trade, property, and corporate

The practice management layer gives accountants a single dashboard across all their clients’ MTD ITSA, CT600, and VAT obligations. Auto-Pilot sends deadline reminders to clients directly; clients reply with their source documents by email and the platform converts attachments into categorised transactions automatically.

The displacement of micro-entity CATO self-filers is a client acquisition opportunity for practices. Tiraverse provides the tooling to onboard them efficiently without adding proportional overhead to the team.
